Seattle wedding photography at the Ballard Locks, reception at Canlis restaurant.
Her wedding dress was green & their cat was printed on his socks
The backdrop for Jess and Nick’s intimate ceremony at the Carl S. English Jr. Botanical Garden was chosen for its close proximity to the Ballard Locks, otherwise known as the Hiram Chittenden Locks. There are lush green lawns, trails that lead to private vistas, secret tree canopies to hide under and vibrant gardens that flourish with an abundance of treasures that are evidence of the patient nurturer who tends them.
When we met for a quick tour and engagement session, their one request was for a photo that would include the elevated train track bridge that opens up to let the boat traffic through. This was a sight they had seen on the daily from their apartment throughout their courtship that they wanted to memorialise.
They got ready together in their hotel room at the Courtyard Marriot on Lake Union. She wore a green wedding dress and he sported a pair of socks with their cat printed on them. After the ceremony, cocktails and dinner at the elegant and historic Canlis restaurant. Stunning table scapes created by coordinator/ brides sister Whitney Jenssen , and dreamy florals by Diadem Flower Co.
With sweeping views of distance vistas of the sprawling Seattle neighbourhoods from treetop walls of glass and a roof top escape, Canlis offers delicious table service and a private bar. The night was topped off with a raucous trivia game in place of a DJ and one song that the bride and groom danced to seal the deal. These choices lead me to know that Nick and Jess are loving non-traditionists who value relationships and symbols of the quality of their shared life.
